Coach Taylor
Coach Taylor built his life around the game of basketball, but more importantly, around the people it brought into his life. A standout player out of Longview, Texas, he earned scholarship offers from Trinity Valley Community College and Eastern New Mexico University and quickly made a name for himself as a disciplined and impactful competitor. With an opportunity to continue his career professionally in the Dominican Republic, his path in basketball was set. However, after learning he was about to become a father to twins, Coach Taylor made a life-defining decision to step away from the game and put his family first. That choice led him into coaching, where he spent nearly 30 years mentoring and developing young athletes at Dobie and Henry Middle Schools, leaving a lasting impact far beyond the court.
During his playing career, Coach Taylor helped lead his high school team to a 1992 5A State Championship, completing a dominant playoff run that included district, bi-district, area, and regional championships. He also earned All-Conference honors and was recognized for his leadership and performance on the court. Throughout his coaching career, he built a reputation for instilling discipline, toughness, and character in his players—continuing to influence generations of athletes through the game of basketball.
Coach Madison
Madi brings leadership, toughness, and a defense-first mindset to Next Phase Basketball. At Westwood High School, she earned a reputation as a relentless competitor and steady leader—someone who set the tone in big moments and helped lead her team to deep playoff runs. A four-year letterman at the 6A level, Madi balanced elite defensive play with strong academic performance, establishing herself as both a leader on and off the court. She continued her career at Concordia University as a student-athlete before a shoulder injury cut her playing career short, ultimately fueling her passion for coaching and player development.
Her accomplishments include 2× First Team All-District honors, Defensive MVP (2015–2016), and Defensive Player of the Year (2016–2017). She was a 3× Bi-District Champion, 4× Area Champion, and 3× Regional Quarterfinalist, while also earning Team MVP and Most Improved Player (2014–2015). In the classroom, she was a 4× Academic All-District selection (6A) and named to the Academic All-State Team.

Known for her toughness and determination, Coach J set the tone defensively and competed at a high level throughout her career.
